Seriously people…I think something is wrong with you guys. Well not the people reading this because you clearly are here for my rants…like this one. No, I’m talking to the people who are googling “grizzly porn” and “american grizzly vol 1 issue 31 porn” and “crossfit porn” and getting to this site. I posted about this once before thinking it was a joke or a mistake, but clearly there is something out there people are looking for…this is not it. However, in more appropriate news, if you googled “crossfit outlaw way dan” you are a) awesome b) in the right place or c) looking for Daniel Tyminski, also cool but wrong place. Moral of the story, I know your search history and it’s kind of weird…
Look at what Mikko Salo does while he’s “hurt” and here I am sitting on my ass…I need a ski erg. Clearly I am getting a bit stir crazy. It’s been almost a week since my last fake WOD or squat day or whatever you want to call the mobility and rowing work I was doing last week after my visit with the Chiropractor. If you include the 10 days off before that, it’s been a little over 2 weeks since I’ve even tried to do the full Outlaw work. I miss it desperately. I’m terrified for how my body is going to react when I reintroduce that volume again, I’m going to have to ramp up relatively slowly, or since I know myself, just throw myself at it and hope for the best. At this point I’m also fairly certain that Spencer from Outlaw is wondering why the fuck I paid him $200 to coach me – because I’m not doing shit. Sorry Spencer, one day I’ll be worth the money I promise.
A couple people have asked since my knee problems, how my shoulder has been doing. You know it’s funny how a box to the knee and 31 stitches will take the focus off a nagging shoulder twinge. To be honest, I haven’t felt anything relative to my shoulder in several days. I have two potential answers for this, the first is that it’s actually just healing and benefitting from the 2 weeks of rest. The second is that the large doses of prescription narcotics have just numbed it away. Truthfully I won’t know until I try to work out again and see if it rears its head. As I mentioned yesterday, the goal is to come back from both of these injuries as close to 100% as humanly possible. The stitches come out Dec 20, so if I can get to 95+% by then I would be more than pleased. Speaking of working out again, today is the first day since the injury that I’ve felt confident about putting weight on my left leg, walking, stairs and the like are feeling much more “normal.” Still I’m resisting the urge to tell myself “that means I’m better, time to get to training” because that’s how you rip stitches out. That being said, I do not think it would be unwise to try and do strict upper body work starting tomorrow. The plan right now is to squeeze in some 5×5 bench, strict chin ups, strict pull ups, maybe some strict ring dips, and some ring rows. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have something to actually report about. At the very least I’ll try some bottom up kettle bell work.
In the meantime – have some music.
