Second lyrical post in as many days…not on purpose, it just fits. No I didn’t watch our credit system tumble today, but if you met me I think you’d find I’m at a very strange time in my life. I’m not sure what happened to my brain today. After I wrote my Mashup Monday post my brain turned off. Well not off completely, but I couldn’t make it to what I wanted no matter how hard I tried. Needless to say, it was not a very productive day, or afternoon. For whatever reason, be it the holiday season, or the 31 stitches in my knee, this week has me seriously evaluating my life choices, not in a bad way, but in a way that is very distracting and kind of depressing. I think I’m probably alone here, but that’s what’s up.

Stitches come out Thursday at which point I’ll be able to more skillfully evaluate how much range of motion I’ll have and how well I’ve healed. It feels pretty good right now, which I’m pretty sure is a good sign for the healing. I took a different tact today after being sore all weekend, I went for a higher volume approach, lower weight, more reps in hopes of squeezing in a few more workouts this week.

Again, not the most exciting day, really so far shy of exciting I was bored just doing it. Again, sure beats hanging out on the couch some more and hopefully less painful tomorrow than last time.

I post a lot of pictures of food, a few recipes, and a lot of meals out. What you don’t see is all the shit I fuck up and eat anyways. One recipe that I just can’t seem to get right is fried chicken. There are a ton of fried chicken recipes out there for Paleo folks, using coconut flour and coconut oil, or even just baking it. Here’s the list of the ways I’ve messed up Paleo fried chicken. First time I used almond flour and no egg wash, apparently both of those are “no-no’s.” Almond flour burns a lot more easily that coconut flour. Second mistake, it doesn’t really stick without the egg wash, it just lumps off in whatever you’re cooking it in. The third time I used coconut flour but forgot the egg wash, the crust was dry and crumbly. This time I did everything right…I thought. I heated the coconut oil in a pan, dropped in the chicken and “sluuurrpp” the coconut flour soaked up all the oil and started burning. My only choice was to throw it in the oven on a baking sheet to salvage dinner. Maybe 6th time is the charm? I eat a lot of failures, it’s still food so eat up!

  1. Don’t worry Dan. There will definitely be a few thousand left for ya. Outlaw has been beating my body down this past week (the 3×10 squats have been killer!). Plus, I would never prevent you from experiencing the pure joy of a good 5 or 10K row:)
