Grizzly Jams: Real Music Edition
I spend a lot of time listening to music that a good sub section of people might not consider actual music in any conventional sense. Mashups are a strange niche, a niche that I love and dedicate an above average portion of my time to; but a niche nonetheless. There are weeks, maybe even months where I have no desire to listen to what I’ll call, single artist music. Basically things you’d buy on iTunes – albums that are all just a guy or girl, a band, and some songs. Lately I’ve tried expanding a little, I’ve noticed mashups have felt a little stale, and I’ve needed to find other things to whet my appetite for eardrum pleasures. It’s funny, as I write this post about “normal” music, I’m browsing for mashups for my post tomorrow…in any case here’s my top 10 of the moment.
1. Ellie Goulding – Halcyon
2. Zedd – Clarity
3. Lupe Fiasco – Food & Liquor II
4. Mumford & Sons – Babel
5. Seven Lions – Seven Lions EP
6. Icona Pop – Iconic
7. The XX – Coexist
8. Californication – RHCP
9. Weezer – Weezer (Blue Album)
10. The Killers – Hot Fuss
Okay so the last three aren’t really “recent” purchases…they’re 3 albums I would want on a desert island kind of scenario. No matter where I am or what I’m doing one of these three albums will work for me. They’re my musical power animal if you will.
