Today was a mess. Turns out it’s hard to drive to the gym in the morning when your car is locked in a garage by a power outage. Turns out its also pretty hard to grind coffee beans without electricity. Man electricity is fun. So instead my morning went off the deep end, and I had to find time to workout in the middle of the day which isn’t something I love. Mostly I don’t like being rushed, I like getting a solid warmup, instead today I probably had a barbell in my hands for 5 minutes before diving into the workout. I just didn’t have the time. I barely had the time to do the work as it was.

Warmups aside, I’m still decently pleased with the re-testing today. I increased a full round in both C2B and Thruster. I’m positive if I could get this damn butterfly kip down I’d have the strength to actually string these together better. The thrusters on the other hand really suffered due to mobility. Getting stronger means the weight moved a bit easier but I definitely paid the price in efficiency early on. It’s better than not doing the work at all.

I have a confession – I did not rest the full 20 minutes. I didn’t have the time frankly. I rested probably 5-7 minutes max. I don’t think it really held me back at all. At first I’d be a little upset that I lost a round off my hand release pushups but we haven’t really been doing much horizontal pressing so it stands to reason those wouldn’t feel great. Not to mention the press from the thruster probably took more out of me than I care to admit. Or maybe I’m just making excuses – no time to back track now. The box jumps improved handily, 3 full rounds. Today was actually the first time box jumps felt like box jumps, quick and explosive. Used to be the case that I felt like an elephant on a trampoline – there might be some hope for me yet!


Surely I can’t be the only one that plays on fitness equipment websites imagining how awesome my home gym will be.
