This is going to be a short post – mostly because I have almost nothing to talk about – it’s been a pretty slow day. This week has not been the best week of unloading so far. Like I said Monday, normally by the 2nd or 3rd day of unloading I feel so fresh that I can’t help but want to do more, add work, etc. This cycle I’m really not getting that. I don’t know if it’s the nature of the training – more gymnastics and less weightlifting, or if it’s a mental thing going on. I’m going out of town Friday through Sunday and I’m hoping the time away from “Life” will give me back that freshness I’m looking for lately.

My session at the Lab was frustrating to say the least – I’ve been so close to making headway on my snatch and it seems the closer I come, the farther I am from actually attaining it. I snatched 90kg like it was 70kg (198, 154 for you pound folks), the odd part is that as soon as I get a kilo over 90, things start to breakdown. It’s not a strength breakdown, it’s a mentality one. My head tells me it’s heavy so something needs to happen differently, and I start to go back to making mistakes. Miss one forward, correct and miss it behind, correct again and miss it forward. At least I got under a PR snatch, one of these days I’ll actually stand up my bodyweight. On the strength side my best snatch was 90kg, then I did balances at 90kg for doubles, so my strength and positions are getting much better.

The good news from a mobility perspective, my banded pistols are getting better, not necessarily easier, but I fight the position less, and let my body move a little more naturally. Small steps towards the real thing. Front rack lunges felt about the same as last week, worked up 10 lbs heavier, and my glutes are about 40% less sore, which is good. My CTB workout turned into 4×10 CTB’s, the thrusters felt terrible after the lunges and I’m unloading, so I just crossed them off.
