Home from Regionals – Back to What I Know

First let’s tackle Regional’s weekend. This was my first trip to a regionals level competition, for various reasons I didn’t go last year. It was a great experience though curiously not one I would care to spectate again. For no other reason than I found it semi-upsetting not being able to compete. That being said – it was fantastic to be there to support the team we did send, and they did really well, which made it all the more exciting. By Sunday morning though, I just wanted to get back to my diet, my sleep, and my training – you really can’t break these habits I guess.

I will say also – that it was a great way to cap off my (more or less) week off of training. Nothing gets you more ready to train than drinking heavily, staying up till 1:00 and watching other people exercise vigorously at a very high level! Oh and the gluten helps too. So I’ve excised my demons, all that’s left is the good stuff now.

I titled this “Back to What I Know” because for whatever reason I’ve been in a slow drift away from the habits that largely got me where I am. My sleep has been slowly degrading, my diet, especially over the last month, has been a mess, and some of my better mobility/ self maintenance practices have fallen by the wayside. So what does getting back to what I know entail? Well it looks a lot like this..

I’ll probably default back to a 99% paleo model once again, no dairy, no goat milk, no rice; just the good stuff, while I figure out what I’m about. Some of the mobility stuff I’ve already started to tackle with the help of the Crossover Symmetry. One of Mike’s parting words of wisdom to me was to figure out what was going on with my diet, he was certain there was still a piece missing that was holding me back. In an attempt to combat this I’ve added PurePharma-3 to my staples, which is Fish Oil, D-3, and essential miconutrients. I’ll review it when I’m done of course. I feel good about this, and I feel like I needed the trip to Chicago to really get my head back in the game.

P.S. Best picture of the weekend goes to the $175 Reebok shorts… I spend a lot of money on a lot of things related to Crossfit, but this is just ridiculous. I hope no one ever buys these. Never once have I put on a pair of rogue fight shorts and though, man I would trade 5 pairs of these for one pair of really nice shorts…That’s my rant for the day! See you at the box!
