Outlaw Way 121119 (Death Row)
I’m not really sure where to start today. In exchange for doing @primalkitchen 100k holiday row, @primalkitchen and I and about 20 others are doing a sugar detox from Life as a Plate. Here’s the thing, I don’t really eat that much sugar. Coconut water after workouts, and occasionally some honey, that’s about it. I eat very little fruit, and I stick to Paleo about 99.5% of the time, so I’m trying to focus more on the aspects of my relationship with food I’m not happy with. For me this means my tendency to binge when I’m bored and my ridiculous dependence on caffeine and black coffee. It’s going to be an interesting 4 weeks. Might have to eat another pie at Christmas.
Oh yeah and my box picked up the 100k row challenge for Dec 1. through Dec 31. – pretty pumped to see people take to this!
It’s been three days since my last WOD and it’s killing me. I had to watch all my Outlaw friends do their Olympic work today, and then I watched the whole class doing the Wallball/Rope Climb WOD. I wanted to do it all so badly, but I was stuck on a rower. I don’t really mean stuck, because I like to row, but I also like to lift heavy things, and that has not happened in far too long. Depending on what the doctor says when I go later this week, I might be resigned to rowing, squatting and core work for the near future. At least I get to squat tomorrow, and I caught up to all my friends doing the #100kholidayrow so life could be worse. Pumped out another 10k today, sitting pretty at 20k or so now.
Payday at the end of the week, which means two things, I’ll be broke again my Monday and time to by more food! Plus I just signed up for Paleo Pen Pals which seems like a great way to try new things and share my passions – both great things. Working on my first recipe – the working title is “GrizzlyStrong Meat Cereal.” I’m thinking pork shoulder, more bison, and maybe some organ meats are in my future!
Looks like this week is also turning into mobility week – I really want to clear out my hip and ankle junk. I think it will clean up my olympic lifts a ton, which is an exciting prospect. Plus I don’t want to be a fool when I start remote coaching from Outlaw next month. Today was all about calves, I tried to accumulate 20 minutes total between both calves, I think I got about 1/2 that but could definitely feel the difference. I’m getting better at my frog stretch which KILLS my hips, they scream like murder. Day by day I’m taking it slowly and maybe one day I’ll be able to drop into an air squat without falling over backwards and people wincing at me. Also there’s an Olympic clinic coming up at the box as well as a clinic by James Harris which should put some more tools in my mobility belt. I’ll find the magic bullet one day…
