Today’s gonna be a short one – with the deload week in full swing there isn’t a ton to write about, really simplifies life when you work for three minutes and forty seconds and get to go home. Let’s be serious, we both know that I didn’t just go home, I just have all this extra time for mobility. It feels a lot like this.

30 Snatches 135/95#

My goal for this was sub 5:00. Maybe I undersold myself, maybe not, the 3:40 was actually surprisingly difficult. There are numerous areas where form could be improved, overall this really just comes down to the strength of your snatch. If you can snatch 260, then 135 for reps is a lighter load for reps than if you snatch 165, it’s just math. Obviously since I’m trying to add a lot of strength right now, there’s no reason to expect this won’t improve next retest. Like “Grace” this is a good one, and one that I am glad I have in the record books.

Even though my life was pretty weaksauce today – the Barbell Shrugged gang never leave a brother hanging on Wednesday. This week’s episode is all about gaining weight, what perfect timing for the topic, through trial and error I have more or less figured out a lot of the content of this one on my own, but it’s still got a few nuggets in there. Most notably is the section on their ambitious plan to recruit a bunch of athletes to go through a six month strength building program and then try and start competing for the 2014 Crossfit season. Its an interesting goal, considering the timing and my desire to compete in the 2014 season. It’s something I’m going to consider strongly.

I’m mid-planning stage for my first traincation. I have never done one before so I have no idea what to expect or what is expected. For my purposes I’m going to treat it like a competition weekend, where I’ll have a lot of work and very little rest. On the other side I hope to sponge up as much of the Barbell Shrugged/Faction S&C knowledge as humanly possible. If nothing else I should learn a fair bit about traincationing. I’m starting to get nervous but that’s life – sometimes you need to suck it up and run at your goals.

Tomorrow is stacked up to be one of the best days I’ve had in awhile. First, it’s payday, having money always makes me happier. Second, it’s an off day from Outlaw, which means nothing should hurt. Third, I don’t have to wake up for work until like noon. Fourth, it’s goat milk day, four more gallons ready for some new PR’s.
