It’s been a little crazy around Grizzly HQ lately. Ever since the Open things have just been a roller coaster, going to regionals, taking time off, switching up training programs, adding a nutrition coach, catching some feelings, trying to get more “life” in. The unfortunate consequence for all of this is that I’ve really not been as “active” on my blog as I have been previously and would like to be. But, I’m going to try and change that! Since I don’t really feel that everyday posts are the way to go anymore, I’m considering at least going to twice a week, and talking a bit more about training than previously. So thats the first goal. The second goal is, to get more product review’s out. I’ve been sitting on at least 3 or 4 reviews now that I really need to start cranking out. I’m going to try and get one review out a week from now until I’m out of products, starting with the Crossover Symmetry review this Friday. Good plan? Good plan.

This past week was kind of bonkers. There were a lot of ups and downs from the “life” side of things, so I didn’t quite have the training/diet week that I would’ve liked. But I still got in some good sessions so hopefully all is not lost. Trying to stay true to my post last week, I will not make my mark on this world with Crossfit, so let’s try and keep things in perspective.

Monday’s snatch work felt really good, getting really comfortable from that high hang position, and surprising myself with the stability I’m finding in the hole. I really wish I had gotten these on video to compare with Dan from 2 years ago, struggling with 145… Tuesday was a terrible WOD for two reasons, chiefly, it’s a bunch of stuff I’m really not great at, long arms make poor gymnasts. Secondarily, the whole WOD was shoulders, so those were fried for the rest of the week, poor guys. Wednesday was one of those “life” days where not a lot of good things were happening, so my silver lining was getting 10×5 Unbroken Hang Power Snatches in at 115 in 5 minutes, bodes well for the next time I test “Isabel”. Unfortunately, Friday also was a struggle, I wasn’t moving well through the day’s complex and though I felt like I moved okay through the squatting, I was surprised when the strength didn’t quite come through. With a 1RM of 385, I would’ve thought a single at 355 would be pretty well within my limits. Though AthleteWOD has been doing far more high-rep squatting so perhaps I’m out of my depth here. Saturday was fun, I like to push press, though again long arms don’t help me, it’s a pretty good mechanical movement for me, and translates well to other things, was very happy with 225×5 (previous best was 225×4), though 235×5 should’ve happened. And of course we round out the week with #mealprepsunday and Airdyne brutality.
